Disabled people who wish to enjoy the challenge of learning to fly but who cannot meet the cost may apply for the:

Suzi Duncan Scholarship

Step One Read this page to see what we offer, then fill out the simple application form (see link below). . Good luck!

Step Two A Wheelies with Wings Letter awarding you the Scholarship and allocating a position on a course.

Step Four Go Fly!

This is an Introduction to Flying course. The only other paperwork comes with the scholarship and is The Recreational Aviation Australia RA (AUS) Membership form, which will be supplied.

(The RA (AUS) form will be sent to you with the above letter.)

Each scholarship covers all RA (AUS) membership, accommodation, meals, ground and flight training. If you do not have a drivers licence your only cost will be a visit to your local doctor.

It is a two week course usually in Temora NSW in May and November.

You get ground instruction as required and flying instruction up to a maximum of 15 hours.

There are no exams and no licences required as we keep it as simple as possible.

You will not normally fly "solo". You will gain some knowledge and have a lot of fun whilst been given proper flying training.

Suzi Duncan Scholarship course in detail below

All courses are usually planned to include a Temora Aviation Musuem "Flying Weekend"

The Aircraft

The Foxbat is our perferred aircraft or alternatively the Piper Cherokee.

The Foxbat is a Light Sports Aircraft and must be flown with a RA (AUS) student membership.

The Piper is a General Aviation aircraft and needs no licence for introduction to flying activities until you are going solo.

You will be required to check in to the motel on the Sunday prior to the course proper starting on Monday. You must tell us of any changes to your plans asap to enable us to book or cancel rooms.

Closing ceremony and departure
The presentation of certificates takes place on Saturdaylunch time during the excellent flying programme at the Museum. After that the course finishes and we say our goodbyes. Students travelling long distances are welcome to spend the Saturday night at the motel. You must let us know if you need the motel on the Saturday night.

You are usually booked into the Goldtera Motor Inn.

80 Loftus St, Temora NSW 2666 ph.no 6977 2433

Temora Aero Club
Your flying days will be spent here at Temora Flying Club . The guys are very friendly. The toilet really isn’t very disabled friendly but if you need a proper disabled toilet there is one at the museum which you can use.

Flying manuals
Pre Study for Wheelies with Wings course.

There is no need to get too carried away but anticipation is everything!
Also in aviation you can never be too prepared.
In the past WwW has provided a BAK “Basic Aeronautical knowledge” book to our students which they can keep for the cost price.

So either I can order this book and send it to you or you can source it yourself from any book shop or flying school or from the source!  http://www.bobtait.com.au/

If you have internet access there is however a HUGE amount of this sort of information on the web.

For  a good guide of the basics. BAK. Go http://www.raa.asn.au/groundschool/contents.html
The RAA page has all sorts of basic info.
Go to the civil aviation safety authority site. CASA has heaps of info on there. http://www.casa.gov.au

Casa has an instructors manual that is excellent. http://www.casa.gov.au/scripts/nc.dll?WCMS:STANDARD::pc=PC_90306

Flying schools will supply a photocopy of Pilots Owners Handbook . there is a dodgy one here http://peter.vojnisek.com/uploads/9/5/0/7/95075/piper_pa-28-140_-_owners_manual.pdf

Temora is a very friendly town and the locals will make you most welcome.
